National Manager for England
John is an accomplished forester with 24 years’ experience in operational leadership of Forestry and Land Management programmes in England’s public forests.
The opportunity to work across the whole forest industry in England greatly attracted John to the National Manager role and a new challenge. He wants to use his expertise and knowledge to help bring the forest industry ever closer together in England to inspire organisations, politicians and society to tackle climate change and champion the important role that timber and other wood-based products play.

National Manager for Scotland
April's priority work areas are representation and communication, and membership recruiting. She sits on numerous working groups on Confor's behalf including the SRDP Customer Reps Group, the Timber Transport Forum, the Scottish Tree Health Advisory Group, the Plant Health Centre Steering Group, the Moorland Forum, the Scottish Squirrel Group and the Deer Round Table.
She works closely with the three Scottish regional chairmen and with Stuart Goodall, to ensure that Confor policy is consistently promoted, and the results promulgated to the Scottish members, and to a wider audience when required. April facilitates the regional meetings for the forestry and timber industry in north-east, mid and south Scotland. In addition, a large amount of her time is taken up with responding to consultations.
National Manager for Wales
Elaine joined Confor in 2023. She previously spent more than five years with Natural Resources Wales (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru), working on forest operations and delivering sustainable management of the Welsh Government Woodland Estate. Elaine represented NRW on the FISA Chainsaw working group and chaired the internal restocking and establishment group. She looks forward to using her energy and enthusiasm for our sector together with her experience and expertise to work on everyone’s common goal: to improve and expand forestry in Wales.
