National manager for Scotland

Join a dynamic team at the forefront of tackling climate change and supporting one of the UK's greenest and fastest growing business sectors.

The Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor) is the representative body for the forestry and wood processing sector in the UK.

Planting more trees and promoting an increasing use of wood-based products will play an ever more important role in tackling climate change and contributing significantly to a green economy. This is an opportunity for you to be a key player in a team at the very forefront of the UK’s ambitions for climate change mitigation and securing a Green Recovery from Covid-19. An opportunity to help make a real difference.

The forestry and wood processing sector has experienced rapid growth in recent decades not only in the number and variety of jobs available but also its contribution to the economy and in its increasing political significance. Confor has a key role to play in supporting future growth and raising the positive profile of the sector, including through working with governments across the UK to provide a supportive policy environment, with targeted grants and partnership working on key industry development matters.

Scotland already has a successful and vibrant wood-based bioeconomy contributing nearly £1 billion annually to Scotland’s economy with industry ambition to double this by 2030. It also has government targets to increase woodland cover by 18,000 hectares per year by 2024/25 and to further improve its positive carbon credentials through increased use of wood fibre in construction.
