Confor and FISA South West Regional Field Day

8 June 2018

Integrated planning & safe management of forest operations in a mixed lowland estate.

Location: Perridge Estate, Longdown, Exeter EX6 7SR

In conjunction with the Perridge Estate and Kleen Kutt, Confor and FISA are pleased to invite you to a joint spring/summer field visit. The focus will be on the planning and safe management of forest operations in an operationally active mixed lowland estate.

The Perridge Estate at Longdown near Exeter has been in the ownership of the Studholme family since 1905 and is currently managed by Sir Harry Studholme.

On the day we will visit a range of sites which will afford the opportunity to discuss the planning of work programmes, the assessment of site hazards & operational risks and alternative approaches to implementation.

Kleen Kutt plan to have a selection of their harvesting machinery on site and will be pleased to discuss their role on the estate and their capacity for work.

  • Meeting notes with timings, stop details and discussion points will be sent out to all those who register to attend.
  • A small administration fee of £20 will be charged.
  • Attendees should bring their own lunch.
  • Attendees should bring PPE suitable for harvesting sites (hard hat and hivis).

Confor outdoor meetings take place in all weathers. Appropriate footwear and clothing should be worn. Please be aware of your health and safety at all times as there are some steep areas on the visit. Do not take risks that could put you or others in danger. Please follow instructions. Please ensure that footwear is clean to help prevent the spread of pest and diseases.
