Getting the right tree to the right market

28 September 2016

But can you grow it first without the deer eating it?

A north east Scotland Forest Industry Regional Event

5.15pm buffet for 6pm meeting, The Gordon Arms Hotel, Huntly, AB54 8AF

We are constantly encouraged to grow more diverse species, and there may be new opportunities
for farmers to plant some of their land, but do we need a deer control group to get the population
under sufficient control to grow those trees, and then get them to the right market – more
efficiently than at present?

Attendance is FREE but prior registration is required

A light buffet supper will be provided from 5.15pm before the meeting kicks off at 6pm under the
chairmanship of Will Anderson of Seafield Estates.

Presentations will include:
Forestry Grant Scheme and Sheep & Trees updates – from Grampian Conservancy
Deer control and forming a new low-ground Deer Control Group – from reps involved with the
LDNS (Lowland Deer Network Scotland)
Getting the right tree to the right market – David Leslie from James Jones & Sons Ltd will
explain what they are doing with the latest technology such as Navman to improve efficiency
within the supply chain
Industry updates – from Confor and the Industry Leadership Group
