Strategic Priorities/Objectives

ConFor's role is to build the timber market, influence policy and support the competitiveness of the forestry and forest products industry.

ConFor has been established at a time when the industry has exciting new opportunities available to it, as well as facing up to many challenges, both within the market and at policy level.

Strategic Priorities

ConFor's role is to build the timber market, influence policy and grow the competitiveness of the forest industries.  Our strategic objectives are as follows:

  • Influence all levels of government to create a supportive policy environment for the industry
  • Help build the market, and market share, for timber and timber products
  • Provide services for our members which improve their market prospects, productivity and competitiveness

Our core values are to be: professional; focussed; constructive; challenging; open; and responsive.  These values will underline all that we do.

Measuring Success

We realise the importance of measuring our performance against our strategic objectives.

With this in mind, we will monitor specific areas to identify the impact ConFor has made.  A successful ConFor would expect to influence:

  • the levels of investment and productivity across the UK forest industries
  • the share of timber, particularly UK-grown, in construction and energy markets
  • the recognition by UK and European governments of the economic and environmental value of the industry
